Shiloh Road Improvements

In the City of Tyler, an average of 6,255 vehicles per day use the Shiloh Road corridor, according to traffic study results. It is estimated that traffic volumes will double or triple over the next 20 to 30 years.

Shiloh Road is currently a two-lane roadway with open ditch drainage and limited shoulders. To meet future growth demands, roadway conditions must be improved.

The Shiloh Road Improvement Project's key purpose is to:

• Create long-term and interim plans to guide road development.
• Increase vehicle capacity and decrease road delays.
• Accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists.

The project is currently in its preliminary phase, which focuses on identifying needs and constraints.

Potential Improvements include:

• Re-alignment of Shiloh Road with a new at-grade railroad crossing.
• Re-alignment of Kent Drive to intersect/tie into Shiloh Road.
• Interim option of a 3-lane roadway: Walmart Driveway to Old Omen Road.

The proposed initial improvement is to change the roadway to an interim 3-lane cross section, which is predicted to likely accommodate traffic growth for the next 20 to 30 years.

• East of the Railroad (Rural): accommodates forecasted traffic growth for the next 30 years, with or without a Grande Boulevard to Old Omen Road Extension constructed.
• West of the Railroad (Industrial): accommodates forecasted traffic growth for the next 20 years, with a Grande Boulevard to Old Omen Road Extension constructed.
