The City of Tyler is moving forward with the reconstruction of Fire Station 2, focusing on sustainability, energy efficiency, and low maintenance. The fire station will be 15,000 square feet and designed to meet the needs of a modern fire service. It will include four bays, featuring three drive-through bays and one back-in bay, and will accommodate nine full-time employees who occupy the station 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The updated facility will include several critical improvements, such as an air cascade system to refill oxygen tanks in the city’s southern sector and a dedicated classroom space for battalion meetings in the South Battalion. The design will also incorporate accommodations for female firefighters, vehicle emissions reduction systems, fitness facilities, and proper apparatus clearances.
The total cost of Fire Station 2 reconstruction is $7.26 million.

We are planning to build a new Fire Station 2 at a different location that is still being finalized, but it will be near the existing fire station.
